Several postdoctoral positions in astronomy and astrophysics will be available in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Northwestern University, starting in Fall 2012. The group is part of the new Center for Interdisciplinary Exploration and Research in Astrophysics (CIERA) at Northwestern and successful applicants will further benefit from interaction with a broader interdisciplinary group of researchers. We are interested in candidates with prior experience in any area of theoretical/computational astrophysics, and also with potential connections to observational astronomy. Of particular interest this year are candidates who will work with Vicky Kalogera on gravitational wave astrophysics and data analysis; with Yoram Lithwick on the dynamics of planetary systems; with Fred Rasio on the modeling of dense star clusters; or with Farhad Yusef-Zadeh on the Galactic center.
Applications from women and minority candidates are especially encouraged.
Applicants should send a complete curriculum vitae including a list of publications, a brief statement of research accomplishments and interests, and arrange for at least 3 letters of recommendation to be sent to the above address. Email submissions are preferred. Please clearly state the title of the position for which you are applying in your cover letter and in the subject of your e-mail. Applicants must receive their Ph.D. prior to appointment. The deadline is December 31, 2011, but later applications will be considered until all positions are filled.
