The Institute for Astronomy of the ETH Zurich invites applications for a number of postdoctoral positions in the extragalactic research groups of Professors Carollo and Lilly. The positions are initially for two years, but are usually extended for a third year (in exceptional cases upto a maximum of six years).
The postdocs will work in the general area of the evolution of galaxies, Large Scale Structure and the IGM. These may involve working on large existing data sets such as COSMOS and ZENS or the development of new projects. One focus will be the exploitation of our GTO time on the forthcoming MUSE integral field spectrograph at the VLT. Switzerland is a full member of ESO and ESA. The Institute has a network of workstations and guaranteed access to a flexible state-of-the-art high performance computing cluster, as well as competitive access to supercomputers of the Swiss National Supercomputing Center (CSCS).
The salary scale is attractive (typically 83,000 - 95,000 CHF, based on experience). Postdocs have access to research funds for computers, travel, conference participation, publication charges and other requirements.
