Join the team that operates and manages the Hubble Space Telescope and its successor, the James Webb Space Telescope! The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), located on the Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus in Baltimore, Md. is currently accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
The successful applicant will work with Dr. Rémi Soummer on high-contrast imaging for exoplanetary science. The specific responsibilities of the position are flexible depending on the interests and background of the candidate, and are related to two distinct ongoing projects. Possible responsibilities include the reduction and analysis of archival HST NICMOS coronagraphic data, and the development of a laboratory testbed to investigate high-contrast coronagraphy combined with wavefront sensing and control for segmented telescopes. Requirements Applicants should have obtained by the starting date a Ph.D. in astronomy or a related field. The start date of the appointment is flexible, but should be no later than September 2012; earlier dates are preferred. The appointment is for two years, with a possible renewal for a third year.
