The University of Georgia, Department of Physics and Astronomy is searching for a postdoctoral research associate to work on studies of high velocity clouds. The postdoctoral researcher will join a research group that has been simulating high velocity clouds, their hydrodynamic interactions with their environments, and their observational consequences. The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to this effort, principally by performing computer simulations, but there is a possibility of also doing relevant observational work if mutually desired. Previous experience writing and running hydrodynamic or spectral software codes will greatly aid the postdoc in his/her efforts, as will previous experience studying interstellar or intergalactic plasmas.
Applicants should have a PhD in astronomy or physics prior to beginning the associateship. Interested individuals should send a letter of application, curriculum vitae, publication list, statement of research interests, and contact information for three references to Dr. Robin Shelton. Applications are due by February 29, 2012.
For more information, feel free to contact Dr. Shelton at rls@physast.uga.edu. The University of Georgia is an EEO/AA institution and especially encourages applications from minorities and women.
The position includes partial benefits for qualifying employees.
