(2) Non-Regular, F/T (limited term up to 3 years), RCUH Non-Civil Service positions w/ the Institute for Astronomy in Honolulu Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
MINIMUM MONTHLY SALARY: Salary commensurate with qualifications.
DUTIES: Performs research in cosmology analyzing Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) and large scale structure (LSS) data, with special emphasis on non-linear transformations, non-Gaussianity, Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAOs), and Dark Energy in general.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. from an accredited college or university in Astronomy or Physics (Ph.D. candidates may apply but must submit evidence of Ph.D. completion upon hire.) Experience in analyzing CMB and LSS data sets, theoretical research in cosmology, and computational techniques. Knowledge of current research in cosmology, ISW effect, Dark Energy, and BAO. Proficiency in python/numpy, and c, experience with the CAMB and Cosmomc, or equivalent, as well as familiarity and maintenance of Linux and OS X systems.
