The Faculty of Physics at Bielefeld University invites applications for a junior professorship (W1) in radio astronomy, starting on June 1, 2012.
The successful candidate will lead a junior research group to be established jointly by the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy (MPIfR, Bonn) and Bielefeld University. The scientific and technological focus of activities will be modern radio astronomy, in particular with the exploitation of LOFAR and the future SKA and its pathfinders. Observational experience in radio astronomy at low frequencies would be considered an advantage.

Applicants should have a demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching. The initial appointment as junior professor is for three years, extendable to six years after positive evaluation.
