Brief Description of Duties: The Research Support Specialist will assist with Astronomical research under the direction of the Program Director. He/she will receive training in the mathematical and computer software procedure and will be performing the following duties:
*Measure the velocities of single and binary stars using available stellar and theoretical templates.
*Calibrate and analyze optical and infrared and interferometric data to measure stellar binaries.
*Reduce and analyze high angular resolution imaging data of young stellar binaries.
*Prepare results for publication to include making graphs and tables.
Other Duties: As assigned.
Special Notes: This position is supported by the Federal economic stimulus funding (ARRA) and requires hiring as soon as possible. This is a full time position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
