Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the exploitation of the Galactic Plane surveys, for which staff in the UH Centre for Astrophysics Research are the leads. In particular, we are seeking someone to support the operation and calibration of the optical surveys, and to bring together in-house optical, infrared and sub-millimetre survey data with a view to developing a 3D mapping of dust and molecular clouds in the accessible Galactic Plane. Staff working at UH in this area are Janet Drew, Phil Lucas, and Mark Thompson. This project is to be funded by a 3-year award from the Science & Technology Facilities Council of the UK.
The position is available for up to 3 years with a start date between April 1 and August 1 2012. Candidates should have, or should have submitted for a PhD in astronomy/astrophysics, before taking up the post.
