The University of Alabama in Huntsville is now accepting applications for the full-time position of Postdoctoral Research Assistant I for the Center of Space Plasma & Aeronomic Research. The successful candidate will assist with data analysis and simulation activities related to the Cerenkov Telescope Array (CTA) consortium, and conduct research in gamma-ray physics. UAHuntsville has a long history of hard X-ray and gamma-ray research, including contributions to the space-instruments BATSE, and now the Fermi Gamma-Ray Burst Monitor (GBM), and is a member of the CTA Consortium, which is planning the next – generation ground-based gamma – ray telescope array. The Gamma-Ray Astronomy Team conducts research on GRBs, X-ray and gamma-ray transient sources, pulsars, SGRs and Terrestrial Gamma-Ray Flashes (TGFs). The Researcher is expected to contribute to CTA data analysis activities and to carry out research using GBM data. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Science, Engineering or a closely related field, previous experience with ground - based gamma-ray data analysis.
