Prof. Judd Bowman at Arizona State University invites applications for a postdoctoral position in reionization and redshifted 21 cm cosmology using the Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) and the Experiment to Detect the Global EoR Signature (EDGES). The redshifted 21 cm background from neutral hydrogen gas during the epoch of reionization is an entirely new window on the early Universe. The successful candidate will develop and apply parameter estimation techniques to search for the 21 cm signal in new observations and to determine the reionization history of the Universe. Candidates with prior experience in parameter estimation and analysis of cosmological observations (21 cm, CMB, LSS, etc.) will be given special consideration. Opportunities will be available for international travel and to engage in independent research, making use of the new Low-frequency Cosmology (LoCo) lab, the extensive computational facilities at Arizona State University and partner institutions, and collaborations within ASU's major new initiative in cosmology. Applicants should submit a complete academic CV, a statement of research interests, and the names and contact information of 3 references to: cosmologypostdoc@asu.edu, Attn: Prof. Judd Bowman. Review of applications will begin on January 1, 2013. ASU is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer – all qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, creed, color, sex or national origin. ASU conducts pre-employment screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check, verification of work history, academic credentials, licenses, and certification.
