The positions are funded by an ERC Advanced Grant project “Physics of the Solar Chromosphere” led by professor Mats Carlsson. The work will involve advanced Radiation Magneto-hydrodynamical simulations of the solar chromosphere performed on supercomputers and comparison with observations obtained with state-of-the-art instrumentation both ground-based and space based. Depending on the background of the candidate, the work may have an emphasis on coding new modules, code optimization, analysis of simulations including the synthesis of observables or observations. The successful applicants will join a team of scientists in a strong academic environment. Within the project period of five years, three more postdoctoral research fellows will be hired. The fellowship period is 3 years and should start before July 1 2013.
