The Northwestern University Department of Physics and Astronomy expects that several postdoctoral positions in astronomy and astrophysics will be available in Fall 2013.
These positions will be part of the Center for Interdisciplinary Exploration and Research in Astrophysics (CIERA) at Northwestern, and successful applicants will be able to benefit from interaction with a broad, interdisciplinary group of researchers. We are interested in candidates with prior experience in any area of theoretical/computational astrophysics, and also with potential connections to observational astronomy. Of particular interest this year are candidates who will work with Vicky Kalogera on gravitational wave astrophysics and data analysis, with Yoram Lithwick on the dynamics of planetary systems, or with Fred Rasio on the modeling of exoplanets and/or dense star clusters.
Please submit applications electronically at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/Northwestern/CIERA/1899/apply. Applicants should send a CV (including a list of publications), a statement of research accomplishments & interests, and arrange for at least three letters of recommendation to be uploaded to Academic Jobs Online (preferred), or sent to the above address. Applications should be received by December 14th, 2012, although later applications will be considered until all positions are filled. Please clearly state that you are applying for one of the Northwestern Theory Post-doc positions in your cover letter. Applicants must receive their Ph.D. prior to appointment.
Applications from women and minority candidates are especially encouraged.
