The MIT Kavli Institute (MKI) for Astrophysics and Space Research invites applications for the newly-established Torres Postdoctoral Fellowship. The appointment will be made to an outstanding researcher in the field of exoplanetary science.
MIT's exoplanet community includes observers, theoreticians, and instrument builders. MIT is the PI institution for the proposed Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite mission, and MIT researchers have access to the 6.5m Magellan Telescopes at Las Campanas Observatory, Chile.
The appointment will be for a maximum of four years, with renewal after the second year contingent on performance. The stipend for 2013-2014 will be approximately $67,000 with a research budget of approximately $17,000. Funds will also be provided for health benefits and relocation.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in astronomy, astrophysics, physics, or equivalent, by the date of their appointment.
