Applications are invited for postdoctoral positions at Tel Aviv University to work in Prof. Ehud Nakar’s group, on theoretical and numerical high energy astrophysics. Main research topics are gamma-ray bursts, supernovae and the general theory of shock-breakout, blast waves, radiation transfer and collisionless shocks. There are two open positions this year, one for a numerical expert and second for a theoretician.
Applicants should have a PhD in physics or astrophysics. The appointments are for initial periods of two years, and possible extension of up to four years. Starting dates are negotiable with a preference for beginning no later than Fall, 2013. The positions include funds for travel, publications, and computing, including a dedicated multi-core (about 500) computing facility.
Applicants should email a curriculum vita, a brief description of research interests, and arrange for three reference letters to be sent to Mrs. Daniella Gabrielovitch (daniella@astro.tau.ac.il). Applications received by 30 November 2012 will receive full attention.
