Job Announcement Text:

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral appointment at the Physics Department of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität to work with Dr. Klaus Dolag (Universitäts-Sternwarte München) on studies of structure formation, cosmology and galaxy clusters. The research will focus on the analysis (by means of virtual observations) of hydro-dynamical simulations of very large cosmological volumes, where the baryonic component is described following a variety of physical processes, including star formation and AGN feedback. With special attention for X-ray, gravitational lensing and Sunyaev-Zel’dovich observations, these studies will help to interpret the results and the cosmological implications from current and upcoming observational campaigns like SPT, PLANCK, eROSITA and many more.  Applicants with interest and experience in observational cosmology, in X-ray and/or SZ imaging or in weak lensing analyses as well as candidates with experience in the use of hydrodynamical simulations to help in studies of galaxy clusters and the large scale structure are especially encouraged to apply.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in astronomy or physics. The initial appointment will start any time, but latest in Fall 2013 and last for two years. Please send a CV, a publication list, and a research statement; in addition, arrange to have two letters of recommendation sent to Dr. Klaus Dolag.  Applications should be received by November 15, 2012.

The salary is paid according to German public service pay agreement TV-L E13. The advancement of women in science is an integral part of university’s policy. Therefore, women are especially encouraged to apply. Persons with disabilities will be given preference to other applicants with equal qualifications.
