Applications are invited for two postdoctoral researcher positions at the Finnish Centre for Astronomy with ESO (FINCA) of the University of Turku, Finland. The positions are available from 1 January 2013. Appointments are for fixed two years, with a trial period of four months.

FINCA is a national research institute that takes care of Finnish co-operation with the Euroopan Southern Observatory (ESO); practises and co-ordinates high quality astronomical research and technological development work related to ESO; participates in research training; and promotes co-operation of Finnish universities in astronomy. The jobs consist of independent scientific research in any subject area practiced by FINCA, and if required, participation in teaching, supervision of graduate students, and administration. The positions require a PhD in astronomy or a closely related subject. Experience in observational ground-based astronomical research and/or with ESO is an advantage. The applicant must have completed his or her doctorate no more than four years ago. Depending on qualifications, the gross salary is within the range of 3200 – 3600 Eur/month.
