Job Announcement Text:

Applications are invited for two postdoctoral research associate positions working with Dr D.Elbaz and collaborators in the framework of the ASTRODEEP project financed by the european commission (FP7 Space), a collaboration between the Rome Astronomical Observatory (A.Fontana), University of Edinburgh (J.Dunlop), CEA-Saclay (D.Elbaz) and CDS Strasbourg (S.Derriere).

The focus of ASTRODEEP is on bringing together the expertise of a team to combine the deepest multi-frequency data from space (HST, XMM, Chandra, Herschel, Spitzer) and groundbased telescopes of 5 key extragalactic fields (CANDELS+COSMOS fields), with the goal of understanding the formation and evolution of galaxies and supermassive black holes. We seek candidates with a solid background in observational astronomy and computer skills. One of two profiles will be more focused on simulations and refined methods for the extraction of information in high-density fields.

The CEA team is PI of the deepest Herschel extragalactic surveys and co-I of the PEP and HerMES projects. The candidate will be in a unique position for the scientific exploitation of these data. The Astrophysics Department of CEA (SAp) is a major space astrophysics laboratory located about 20 km south-west of Paris. The position is for one year initially with the intended extension of additional years. Interested applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a one-page statement of research interests, and two (or three) letters of reference. A Ph.D. is required. The review of applications will begin on December 1, 2012 and will continue until the position is filled. The successful candidate may start early 2013.
