PEKING UNIVERSITY, BEIJING CHINA KAVLI INSTITUTE FOR ASTRONOMY AND ASTROPHYSICS
The Kavli Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics (KIAA) at Peking University(PKU), Beijing, China invites applications for post-doctoral
fellows, starting on Academic Year, 2013. We seek qualified applicants in all branches of astronomy and astrophysics. Successful candidates will have an initial appointment of two years, renewable for a third year, and are expected to develop independent forefront research programs as well as to integrate with the existing activities at the KIAA.
With English as its working language, KIAA is designed to be an international center of excellence in astrophysics, a forum for global scientific exchange, an incubator for innovative projects, and a training center for international postdocs and students. The programs of KIAA focus on studies in three major areas of astrophysics: a) cosmology, first light, galaxy assemblage; b) star and planet formation, interstellar and intergalactic medium; and c) gravitational physics and high-energy phenomena.
KIAA is also closely associated with the Astronomical Department at Peking University, the National Astronomical Observatories of China, and other astrophysically oriented Kavli Institutes. It is actively engaged in the regional and global development of astronomical facilities and their research programs. Its members have access to computational and observing facilities. KIAA also hosts many thematic workshops, conferences, training programs, and international exchange programs and collaborations.
RANK: Post-doctoral fellows
SALARY: depending on qualifications and experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D., or equivalent, in Astronomy, Physics, Planetary Sciences or related field completed or expected by effective date, a demonstrated record of research excellence and potential. PKU is an equal opportunity employer. Candidates of any nationality are encouraged to apply.
