The Public Information Officer is responsible for duties related to media relations, publicity, and, as directed, community relations, principally for the NRAO's newest telescope, the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA). He/She will be designated point of contact for inquiries and contacts with news media, the general public, community organizations, and other science research institutions with which NRAO may seek to generate joint publicity. Serves as required as an official media spokesperson for the observatory, and advises and assists NRAO management and other staff on media affairs and community relations.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a physical science, journalism or communications with significant course work in physical science.
Experience:
Five years of experience in journalism, public relations or communications, preferably in connection with a scientific or technical organization required.
