Applicants are invited for a postdoctoral research position in extragalactic astrophysics at Tufts University, Department of Physics and Astronomy, to work in collaboration with Dr. Danilo Marchesini.
The successful applicant will focus on the analysis, interpretation, and modeling of Herschel data in combination with ground- and space-based data from the NEWFIRM Medium-Band Survey, as part of an awarded NASA-ADAP funded program. The position will also provide opportunities for independent research.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in astronomy or astrophysics by date of appointment, and experience in observational studies of galaxies is strongly preferred. Technical expertise should include experience with IDL, IRAF, data analysis, and previous experience with Herschel PACS/SPIRE data.
The appointment will be for an initial period of two years, with the possibility of extension for a third year contingent upon satisfactory performance. The position is available with a starting date as early as February 1st 2013. The position includes funds for travel, publications, and computing, and offers a competitive salary.
