Applications are invited for two Postdoctoral Fellowships to work at the Institute for Astronomy(IfA), Royal Observatory Edinburgh, in theoretical/numerical astrophysics with a focus on galaxy formation and cosmological structure formation. The Fellows will join the research group of Dr. Sadegh Khochfar, which will have a new incarnation in Edinburgh; they will be expected to perform either analytic/semi-analytic work, or numerical simulations of structure formation, with a focus on hydrodynamics using codes based on adaptive mesh refinement or smooth particle hydrodynamics. The Fellows will have access to a 256-core Beowulf cluster dedicated to the group to run simulations, plus the possibility of applying for further computing time on super-computers based at Edinburgh. Candidates should have demonstrated ability and initiative in modern astrophysics research. The appointments are for three years starting October 1, 2013 with flexibility on the start date. Salary Scale: Grade 7 GBP 30122 - GBP 39257 subject to performance Closing date: 15 December 2012 Informal enquiries are welcomed and should be made to Dr Sadegh Khochfar (sadeghk@mpe.mpg.de).
