The Excellence Cluster “Origin and Structure of the Universe”, a joint project of Technische Universität München, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, several Max-Planck Institutes and the European Southern Observatory, invites applications for junior research group leader positions. Successful candidates develop their own research program and receive funding for two PhD students and start-up funds, as well as an annual budget supporting their research.
Candidates should cover one of the following research topics (T=theory, E=experiment):
1. New algorithms for parallel computing (T) 2. Stellar evolution and quantitative spectroscopy (T) 3. CP violation in multibody final states at BELLE II (E) (E) 4. Messenger for new physics: phenomenology of non-standard neutrino properties (T) 5. Strings and observables - connecting strings and black holes in particle physics and gravity (T) 6. Model independent search for physics beyond the standard model (E) 7. Interplay between direct and indirect searches for new physics (T) 8. Formation and evolution of the cosmic large-scale structure (E) 9. Direct dark matter search with a cryogenic multi-target detector (E) 10. Studying the quark-gluon plasma via low-mass dilepton with ALICE (E)
Application documents including cover letter, CV, PhD certificate, list of publications, statement of research accomplishments and research plan should be uploaded at http://www.universe-cluster.de/about-us/jobs/. Please have three letters of recommendation sent to Dr. Andreas Müller at job@universe- cluster.de. Applications from female scientists and candidates with disabilities are especially encouraged. The salary is according to the German public service pay agreement (TV-L E14). Appointments end on 31st October 2017. Application deadline is 30th November 2012.
