Shanghai Astronomical Observatory (SHAO) is seeking to fill a number of postdoctoral positions in theoretical and observational astrophysics. The research fields include active galactic nuclei, accretion disks and jets, high energy astrophysics, the structure and evolution of the Milky Way and its cluster population, galaxy formation, cosmology, and planetary formation. The faculty members at SHAO working in these fields include Xinwu Cao, Li Chen, Lei Hao, Jinliang Hou, Zhengyi Shao, Juntai Shen, Zhiqiang Shen, Martin C. Smith, Zhongxiang Wang, Wenfei Yu, and Feng Yuan. In addition, SHAO has about 10 postdocs and 40 PhD students in astrophysics. The postdoctoral fellowships are intended for active young researchers of all nationalities, and successful applicants are expected to work with one or some of the faculty members listed above. The appointment is awarded for two years initially and extendable for up to five years. The salary depends on qualification and experience, and will be highly competitive.
