The VISTA Deep Extragalactic Observations (VIDEO) Survey Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the scientific exploitation and running of the VISTA Deep Extragalactic Observations (VIDEO) Survey http://star.herts.ac.uk/~dgb/video/ led by Dr Matt Jarvis at the University of Oxford. The VIDEO survey is a 12 sq.degree, Z,Y,J,H,Ks survey specifically designed to enable galaxy and cluster/structure evolution to be traced as a function of both epoch and environment from the present day out to z=4, and AGN and the most massive galaxies up to and into the epoch of reionization.
In particular, we are seeking someone to carry out scientific exploitation of the VIDEO Survey and support the operation and calibration of the VIDEO survey. This is a collaborative project between the University of Oxford and the University of Hertfordshire, administered by Hertfordshire, with the successful applicant based in Oxford under the supervision of Dr Matt Jarvis.
This project is funded by an award from the Science & Technology Facilities Council of the UK. The position is available for up to 2.5 years in the first instance, with a start date between January 1 and March 1 2013. Candidates should have, or should have submitted for a PhD in astronomy/astrophysics, before taking up the post. The starting salary will be on the UH7 academic scale and is expected to be in the range £30k - £33k, according to experience.
