The Leibniz-Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam( AlP) invites applications for a postdoctoral associate position in the area of cosmology and large-scale structure research. The candidate is expected to contribute either to gas-dynamical simulations of galaxy formation, the intergalactic medium and reionisation, or to the analysis of large-scale structures in redshift surveys in comparison to simulations.
The AIP is located in the beautiful Potsdam/Babelsberg area , at the southwestern border of the Berlin metropolitan area. About 120 scientists work on a variety of astrophysical topics, ranging from stellar activity to extragalactic astrophysics. Potsdam is also the home of the Albert-Einstein-Institute for Gravitational Physics, the Physics & Astronomy department of Potsdam University and several other research institutions.
Starting in 2013, the initial appointment will be made for 2 years, with a possible extension by a 3rd year. Highly qualified senior applicants may also be appointed for 3+2 years.
