Job Announcement Text:

Applications are invited for one postdoctoral research position working with Dr Raffaella Schneider and collaborators in the
framework of the FIRST project financed by the European Research Council (ERC-Starting Grant) at the Astronomical Observatory of Rome (INAF/OAR).

The focus of the project FIRST: the first stars and galaxies is to investigate the nature and properties of the first stars and galaxies by means of theoretical models of stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis, semi-analytical and numerical models of galaxy evolution, and detailed comparison with observational data from surveys at low and high redshifts.

The successful applicant will perform research in collaboration with Dr. Raffaella Schneider and the other members of the FIRST research team on semi-analytical models for the origin and properties of the first quasars.

Experience with semi-analytical and numerical modeling is particularly encouraged, but not required.

The position is renewable for up to three years, with competitive salary and generous personal research and travel funds. Applications must include a curriculum vitae, a list of publications and a summary of previous and current research. Applicants must also arrange for three letters of references to be provided directly by their authors.

Interested parties are invited to review the official announcement published on the INAF/OAR website:
http://www.oa-roma.inaf.it/localinfo/job/index.php?lang=it&display=5
and to follow its instructions should they decide to apply.

All applications must be received before December 15, 2012.
The starting date is expected to be no later than April 2013, but earlier dates are encouraged.
For further information, please contact Raffaella Schneider (raffaella.schneider [at] oa-roma.inaf.it).

Included Benefits:

Generous personal research and travel funds will be available.
