Applications are invited for a two-years postdoctoral position in infrared astronomy at the astronomy group of Ghent University (UGent), Belgium. The UGent astronomy group is an expanding research group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, with a focus on extragalactic astronomy.
A postdoc position is now vacant to work in the field of dust in nearby galaxies. The UGent group is leading several Herschel projects on nearby galaxies, such as the HELGA, HEROES and FRIEDL surveys, and is actively involved in several extragalactic key projects, including HRS, HeViCS, Herschel-ATLAS and VNGS. More information on these project can be found on http://users.ugent.be/~mbaes. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be involved in the scientific exploitation of several of these projects. Ample research and travel funds are available.
Candidates should have obtained, by the starting date, a PhD in astronomy, physics or equivalent, in an area relevant to the project. Experience in infrared, submm and radio astronomy, and/or radiative transfer is considered as an added value. Applicants should send a CV, a description of research interests, a list of publications, and should arrange for at least two letters of recommendation to be sent directly to Prof. Maarten Baes. Young postdocs are encouraged to apply.
