The Department of Physics and Astronomy at The University of Utah invites applications for a postdoctoral position. The successful candidate will work with Professor Zheng Zheng and collaborators on topics related to Lyman-alpha emitting galaxies, especially studying their role in probing reionization through radiative transfer modeling. Expertise in computational astrophysics is a plus. The initial appointment will be for two years, with a possibility for an additional year contingent on performance and funding.
The astronomy and astrophysics program in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at The University of Utah has undergone a major expansion. The University of Utah is a full institutional member in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey III. The astro-group currently has 11 faculty members working on a variety of research areas. A stimulating environment is created through astrophysics seminars, astro-ph coffee discussions, and daily interactions.
