The astrophysics group at the Rochester Institute of Technology is seeking one or more outstanding postdoctoral researchers in theoretical or computational astrophysics. We are particularly interested in candidates who can make use of the superb facilities at RIT for gravitational simulations. These include a 32-node, 4 Tflop cluster with hardware accelerators; three, GRAPE-6 special-purpose computers; and a 110 node high-performance cluster. The successful applicant will work with David Merritt and Sukanya Chakrabarti on one or more topics of current research interest at RIT, which include evolution of galactic nuclei, calculation of tidal event rates, interaction of binary supermassive black holes with their galactic environments, and dynamics of dwarf galaxies in the Local Group. Outstanding candidates in related fields will also be considered.
