Job Announcement Text:

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in extragalactic astronomy in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at University of Toronto. The successful candidate will work with Prof. Howard Yee in the subject areas of galaxy clusters and galaxy evolution; in particular, in projects related to the recently completed Red-sequence Cluster Survey (RCS2) and the SpARCS survey for high-redshift clusters.  Follow-up observations, both imaging and spectroscopy, are being carried out using a number of ground- and space-based facilities.  The candidate is expected to assist with the follow-up projects and carry out galaxy cluster and/or field galaxy research with the data.  The candidate will also be encouraged to pursue his/her own research in related areas.  The position requires a PhD in astronomy/astrophysics. Expertise in optical/IR imaging and/or spectroscopic data is highly desirable. The initial appointment is for two years, renewable for a third depending on performance.

The Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics has strong ties to the newly formed Dunlap Institute and CITA.  The successful candidate will have access to Canadian national facilities such as CFHT, Gemini, and JCMT, on a competitive basis.

Applicants should provide a cover letter, a CV, and  a summary of research interests and accomplishments (3 pages maximum), and arrange to have three letters of reference sent to the above address, by January 10, 2013. Only electronic applications (in pdf files) are accepted. The nominal starting date for the position is September 2013.
