NYU ABU DHABI
New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is currently inviting applications for both tenured and tenure-track faculty appointments in astrophysics. Substantial support is available for establishing major experimental research programs in both observational and theoretical astrophysics. Applicants whose research can take advantage of NYUAD’s new 70 teraflop High Performance Computer Bu Tinah and overlap with those of current NYUAD astronomy faculty and/or members of the Center for Cosmology and Particle Physics at NYU are strongly encouraged to apply.
New York University (NYU) has established itself as a Global Network University, a multisite, organically connected network encompassing key global cities and idea capitals. The network has three foundational degree-granting campuses in New York City, Abu Dhabi and Shanghai, complemented by a network of over fifteen research and study-away sites across five continents. Faculty and students are encouraged to circulate within this global network in pursuit of common research interests, the promotion of cross-cultural understanding and solutions for problems, both local and global.
Entering its third year, NYU Abu Dhabi has already recruited a cohort of faculty who are at once distinguished in their research and teaching. Our first two classes of students are drawn from around the world and surpass all traditional recruitment benchmarks, both US and global. NYU Abu Dhabi’s highly selective liberal arts enterprise is complemented by the Institute for Advanced Research, which sponsors cutting-edge projects across the arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and engineering.
The terms of employment are highly competitive and include subsidies for housing and for education of children and dependents. NYUAD faculty also may spend time at NYU in New York City and other sites of the global network, engaging in both research and teaching opportunities. The appointment might begin as soon as September 1, 2013.
