Applications are invited for three tenure-track Professor positions in Astrophysics at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Valparaiso, Chile. The research profile of the Department covers a wide range of theoretical and observational topics in modern astrophysics from protoplanetary disks through to cosmology. Applications from any field of observational or theoretical astrophysics will be considered.
The successful candidates will have access to the 10 per cent of Chilean observing time at all telescopes operating in Chile, including the VLT, Gemini South, SOAR, Magellan, and ALMA. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to scientific research and teaching astrophysics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Applicants must have a PhD in astrophysics or a related field. The positions are to be filled as soon as possible but at the latest by March 2014. The appointments will be permanent subject to a probationary period of two years.
