Grade 10a: Salary from £42,883 plus allowances

Applications are invited for a University Lectureship in Astrophysics. The post is permanent and full-time, tenable from 1 October 2013 and will be offered in conjunction with a Tutorial Fellowship at Brasenose College. The post will be based in the sub-department of Astrophysics within the Physics Department at the University of Oxford.

The combined University and College salary for this post will be on a scale from £42,883 p.a. plus allowances as set out in the further particulars.

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out high-quality research in areas related to radio astronomy and the Square Kilometre Array project, and to contribute to teaching in Physics, including lecturing, examining and graduate supervision, pastoral care of graduate students, and assistance with the administration. As a Fellow of Brasenose College, the successful candidate will carry out undergraduate tutorial teaching and participate in the administration and governance of the College.

Applicants should have a doctorate in Astrophysics or a closely-related discipline and have a track record of research associated with scientific and/or technical developments in radio astronomy with potential application to the Square Kilometre Array. The successful candidate should have an established record of research leadership, and be willing to work within a team. Proven academic distinction can be recognised by the University by the award of the title of Professor. Further particulars of this post can be found at http://www2.physics.ox.ac.uk/about-us/job-opportunities?filter=astro.  Individual enquiries should be directed to Professor Roger Davies, rld@astro.ox.ac.uk.

The deadline for receipt of applications is April 15th, 2013.
