Basic requirements for the position include a PhD in one of the scientific fields cited in the preceding paragraph, a proven record of scientific leadership, 10 or more years in a leadership role, and demonstrated skills in dealing with a complex and decentralized scientific organization.
USRA is inviting applications for this position and is also soliciting nominations from the community. Because of the broad range of science areas involved and the associated responsibilities, there is the possibility that USRA will decide to select two applicants to this announcement for the Vice President for Science position to split responsibility for a subset of the science sector. The decision to do so will depend on the applications received.
