Applicants are invited for a postdoctoral research position in hydrodynamical simulations at Hokkaido University, Japan.
The successful applicant will work with Assistant Professor Elizabeth Tasker and members of the Galaxy Theory Group (Professors Asao Habe and Takashi Okamoto) on simulation topics in the areas of galaxy and star formation. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with Professor James Wadsley at McMaster University in Canada, including visits to McMaster for an extended period (1 -2 months) each year.
The position is initially for two years, with the possible extension for a third year subject to funding and performance. Applicants with experience in hydrodynamical simulations are preferred.
The Galaxy Theory Group at Hokkaido University has their own computational facilities, including a 64 x 8 node machine and access to the newly revamped XC30 at the CFCA in Tokyo.
Applicants are expected to have a PhD in astronomy, physics or a related field or expect to have earned their PhD by the starting date of the appointing (October 2014 at the latest).
