Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position at Lowell Observatory to work in collaboration with Dr. Evgenya Shkolnik on the characterization of exoplanetary systems.
The postdoctoral scholar will have the opportunity to lead aspects of the research and subsequent publications, and will have access to all of Lowell’s observing facilities, including the new 4.3-m Discovery Channel Telescope.
The initial appointment is for one year with an extension to two years in the case of satisfactory progress. Extension to three years may be possible depending on the availability of additional funding. The start date is negotiable, but no later than October 2014. This position is funded by a NASA-The Origins of Solar Systems grant and comes with a competitive salary, funding for computer resources and travel, moving expenses and full health insurance coverage. A PhD in physics, astronomy, planetary science, or a closely related field is required by the start date. Experience with high-resolution spectroscopy is strongly desired.
