Applications are invited for up to two postdoctoral positions in physical cosmology at Argonne National Laboratory's High Energy Physics Division. The post-docs will be able to take full advantage of Argonne's strong computational cosmology program, including access to world-leading supercomputing resources. The first position is for CMB research and cross-correlation with large scale structure, in particular, the creation of synthetic CMB sky maps. Argonne is a member institution of SPT and the postdoc will be expected to interact closely with the SPT team. The second position focuses on large, optical surveys, with emphasis on large scale structure probes of dark energy. Argonne is a member of DES, DESI, and LSST; the research program of the second postdoc is expected to impact one or more of these surveys.
Argonne staff in these areas include Karen Byrum, John Carlstrom, Clarence Chang, Hal Finkel, Salman Habib, Katrin Heitmann, Eve Kovacs, Steve Kuhlmann, Hal Spinka, Bob Wagner, and Gensheng Wang. The current postdocs are Kyle Barbary, Suman Bhattacharya, Lindsey Bleem, Rahul Biswas, Sudeep Das, Sanghamitra Deb, Ravi Gupta, Ben Gutierrez, Juliana Kwan, Nan Li, Adrian Pope, and Ben Zitzer.
Interested applicants should send (i) a CV, (ii) a brief statement of research interests, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to Katrin Heitmann via email (firstname.lastname@example.org). Complete applications received by 30 November 2013 will receive full consideration.
A Ph.D. is required but must not have been obtained prior to 2009.
The positions will start in the fall of 2014.
