Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position at the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute of the University of Groningen.
The successful applicant will work with Prof. Amina Helmi and her research group on various aspects of Galactic Archaeology, such as e.g. history, structure and dynamics of the Milky Way and its satellite system. The projects may involve theoretical modeling and numerical simulations as well as the analysis of the first data release(s) of the Gaia mission. The applicants will also be encouraged to pursue their own scientific interests. The Kapteyn Institute offers a stimulating environment with scientific staff working on a variety of topics ranging from planets to cosmology.
The appointment is for three years, with a preferred starting date in the fall of 2014, but earlier or later dates can be negotiated. The position comes with a competitive salary, its own travel budget and full benefits.
