Applications are invited for a senior staff position in the High-Energy-Group of the Max- Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching. Applicants must have a Ph.D in astronomy, astrophysics or a closely-related field, as well as significant postdoctoral experience, and have an internationally-recognised record of research achievements and refereed publications in astrophysics. Successful candidates will be expected to lead a program of research in high-energy astrophysics. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests and experience in clusters of galaxies, and whose research program will exploit the forthcoming eROSITA all-sky X-ray survey, due for launch on the SRG mission in 2015. The research program will also benefit from access to a wide variety of complementary ground based data. Suitably qualified applicants will be considered for a tenured position. More junior candidates are nonetheless encouraged to apply and may be considered for a term-limited or tenure-track appointment. The position is available immediately, and will follow the framework of public service employees in Germany (TVöD). Salary will be commensurate with level of experience.
