Postdoctoral Position in the Gaseous Medium of Galaxies and Clusters
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Michigan, to work
with Prof. Joel Bregman on studies of the gaseous medium in galaxies, clusters, and the intergalactic medium. The scienific issues focus on
the baryon budget for these systems and the origin of the metals. This work includes data at many wavelengths, including X-rays, UV, and to a lesser extent, optical, infrared, and the radio region. The successful applicant will have a strong background relating to these issues, an active research program, and evidence of productivity. The position can be renewed for up to three years, contingent upon funding and satisfactory progress. The position will start in the summer or fall of 2014.
The Department is a consortium member of the Magellan Telescopes in Chile and the MDM Observatory in Arizona. Significant computing resources
are available through the Department and through the University of Michigan.
