The Office of Public Outreach is seeking a professional with the technical background and experience to manage the team responsible for the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) primary website. STScI is about to undergo a website redesign, and the selected individual will be expected to take a lead role in this effort. This position requires extensive experience in all aspects of website development. Skill areas include developing clear and accurate requirements, understanding primary audience(s), usability and navigation, website components and content management and workflow.
Qualified candidates will hold a BS degree in computer science, software engineering or information systems (equivalent work experience will be considered). Candidates must possess strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. The skill set required to handle this job is extensive and includes basic management skills and experience plus an understanding of the components of web presence to include:
• Online strategy
• Online community & social media
• Web content development and workflows
• Website graphic design
• Editorial skills
• User experience analysis and design
• Website analytics
• Legal issues ( e.g copyright, privacy)
• Current content management systems (ex. Jahia, eXo).
• Tomcat/Apache environments
• Web governance
• Access control and authentication measures to include Active Directory (AD), AD groups and SSO.
Candidates should possess 6+ years of experience in designing, developing and supporting websites and 3+ years of managing and leading a team of web developers.
