The recently formed Astronomy Group at Universidad Diego Portales (UDP) invites applications for a 4-year postdoctoral position in astronomy (full-time research). The position is open to the following research areas: the study of protoplanetary disks and/or extrasolar planets with ALMA and the GPI and SPHERE instruments in Gemini and VLT (in collaboration with Prof. Lucas Cieza), the study of hyper-luminous infrared galaxies and galaxy evolution (in collaboration with Prof. Roberto Assef), the study of stellar transients, supernovae explosions, and their progenitor stars (in collaboration with Prof. Jose Prieto), and the study of the formation of distant galaxies and their interstellar medium (in collaboration with Prof. Manuel Aravena).
While at UDP, the successful candidate will qualify as member of the Chilean community and will be elegible for the 10% privileged access to all telescopes in Chile, including ALMA, Gemini South, VLT, Magellan, CTIO, SOAR, La Silla, APEX, and ASTE.
