Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in high-energy astrophysics at Tuorla Observatory, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Turku, Finland. The position is funded by the grant from the Academy of Finland. The high-energy astrophysics group is a member of MAGIC and CTA collaborations. The research interests of the group members are rather diverse and cover accreting black holes at all scales, ultra-luminous X-ray sources, accreting neutron stars, X-ray pulsars, magnetars, and gamma-ray bursts.
The successful applicant is expected to work with Prof. Juri Poutanen on the data analysis and/or theory of active galactic nuclei. Experience with one of the following will be considered an asset: data analysis from the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope, radiation transport codes, Monte Carlo methods, and MHD simulations. The appointment is initially for one year and is renewable for two more years.
