The Department of Astronomy at Columbia University invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist in Exoplanet Science in the Astronomy department starting on, or about September 01, 2014. The successful candidate will pursue research into various topics in the atmospheric modeling of exoplanets and have opportunities for independent research and international travel, including travel to Toronto, Canada (for collaborative visits with Professor Menou). This appointment will be under the scientific supervision of Professor Kristen Menou (now at Toronto), and Professor Frederik Paerels, of the Astronomy department, at Columbia. This appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal to a second year, subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Astronomy, Physics, or Astrophysics, proven research track record, evidence of future research potential, and the ability to work independently and cooperatively with others. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills are highly desirable.
