Applicants are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in extragalactic astrophysics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The successful applicant will work with Prof. Mark Brodwin on observational studies of distant galaxy clusters. Available resources include Hubble Space Telescope, Spitzer, Chandra, CARMA, Keck, Gemini and South Pole Telescope data. Previous experience with optical/IR, X-ray, or millimeter imaging and spectroscopy, as well as a strong background in the evolution of galaxy clusters and their populations, are highly desired.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in astronomy/astrophysics or physics by the date of appointment, which may start as early as May 1, 2014 but not later than September 1, 2014. The appointment will be for an initial period of two years, with the possibility of extension for a third year contingent upon satisfactory performance and availability of funds. The position includes funds for travel, publications, and computing, and provides opportunities for independent research.
