We are offering a post-doc position at LAM (Marseille) in the framework of the Labex OCEVU project to work on the interplay between galaxies and the intergalactic medium through gas inflows and outflows. The project is based on a new dataset from the infrared Integral Field Unit SINFONI and the wide wavelength coverage X-Shooter spectrograph mounted on the ESO Very Large Telescope.
The post-doctoral researcher is expected to reduce and interpret the data with the help of dedicated state-of-the-art cosmological zoom simulations developped by our team. The project will also have a component on the preparation of future missions aiming at detecting in emission the circum-galactic gas around low-redshift galaxies. Experience in UV/optical/IR spectroscopy would be an asset.
The successful candidate will work with researchers based both at Marseille and Toulouse. Frequent working visits (~1 month/year) to Toulouse are expected. The position includes time for independent research, it is for a duration of one year starting Fall 2014, renewable twice for up to 3 years. The net salary ranges from 1960 to 2640 euros depending on experience.
Applicants should send the relevant material (see https://www.labex-ocevu.univ-amu.fr/?q=en/node/138 for details) to email@example.com by Jan 15, 2014. They should also arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent directly to the same address by the same date. Informal inquiries are welcome and can be addressed to firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com.
Women and members of minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
