Postdoctoral Research Associate in Astrophysics (Three Positions)

Applications are invited for up to three Postdoctoral Research Associate positions in the Astrophysics Group in DAMTP. The successful candidates will work with academic staff (Dr Henrik Latter, Professor Gordon Ogilvie, Professor John Papaloizou FRS and Professor Michael Proctor FRS) on projects funded by STFC, as described below. The positions are available from 1 April 2014, but the start date is flexible and could be delayed until October 2014 at the latest. Applicants should have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in a relevant area of theoretical astrophysics, fluid dynamics or magnetohydrodynamics, and have an established track record of original research and experience of working in collaboration.
Project 1: Magnetohydrodynamics of accretion discs (with Henrik Latter, Gordon Ogilvie and John Papaloizou)
Project 2: Long-term evolution of extrasolar planetary systems (with Gordon Ogilvie, John Papaloizou and Henrik Latter)
Project 3: Scale interactions in solar and stellar magnetism (with Michael Proctor and Gordon Ogilvie)
