We invite applications for one or more postdoctoral fellowships in Theoretical Astrophysics at the Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris (IAP) to work with Dr. Marta Volonteri and collaborators on the European Research Council funded project BLACK, "The formation and evolution of massive black holes". BLACK will study massive black hole formation, feeding and their feedback on their host galaxies across cosmic time through analytical and numerical techniques, with the aim of planning and interpreting current and future observations. Applicants with interests and experience in any of the above fields, and with familiarity with hydrodynamical/N-body codes are particularly encouraged to apply.
The Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris is a leading astrophysics institute in France, with over 60 associated researchers, plus postdocs and PhD students, and an extensive international visitors program. The successful candidates will have access to excellent computing infrastructure, as well as generous travel and research funds.
The position will be available from June 2014, initially for two years, renewable for a third year. A later start date may be negotiated. Salary (including benefits) will depend on skills and experience.
To apply, please send a cover letter with a curriculum vitae, publication list and brief statements of research accomplishments and interests (not exceeding 2 pages each) via email at firstname.lastname@example.org in pdf format by February 1st, 2014. Applicants should arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to the same email address by February 1st, 2014. Late applications may be considered until the position is filled.
