Job Announcement Text:

We invite applications for the inaugural cohort of the newly launched Harvard-MIT Postdoctoral Fellowships for Future Faculty Leaders program. We specifically seek individuals whose research will contribute to increasing diversity and inclusion in the fields of physics and astronomy. Contributions include increasing the participation in science research of women and underrepresented minorities through teaching, mentoring, research advising, and public outreach. The program is also targeted toward individuals who can bring unique perspectives to their fields of research, critical insights that result from non-traditional paths to academia, and backgrounds that can contribute to increasing diversity at Harvard and MIT. The program is intended principally for candidates who are now completing their Doctorate, or have very recently completed their Doctorate but have not yet begun a postdoctoral position, or any individual for whom additional mentoring and training is desired to prepare for future postdoctoral or faculty opportunities. The program provides for a visit of approximately one week in order to foster a research and mentoring relationship with a faculty sponsor, followed by a 3-year postdoctoral fellowship during which ongoing mentoring and networking will help to complete the fellow’s transition to independent young scientist. The nominal starting date is September 1, 2014, but earlier appointments are possible. The positions are for two years, renewable for a third year, contingent on performance and funding. For application instructions and to login to the application, please see the http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/opportunities/fellowships/harvard-mit/application.html.

Harvard University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. Applications from women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged.
