We seek a postdoctoral fellow to conduct research in Astrophysics of Pulsar Timing Arrays (PTAs).
The fellow will work directly with Dr Yuri Levin in the School of Physics, and will collaborate with Professor Matthew Bailes and Dr Willem van Straten at Swinburne University, as well as with Dr Hobbs and Dr Manchester at the CSIRO in Sydney. They will be involved in gravitational-wave searches using the Parkes PTA data, as well as in the astrophysics of the PTA gravitational-wave sources. They will also be expected to contribute to timing observations of the PPTA pulsars (no prior observational experience is necessary).
The School of Physics is located on a green campus in one of the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, and is easily accessible by public transport. The fellow will become part of the rapidly growing Monash Center for Astrophysics, with 14 permanent staff members, and a vibrant visitors' program.
This position is for two years. Applications should include a CV, full publication list, a cover letter stating why you are interested in the position, and a two-page research plan, plus the names and contact details of three referees.
